Job Summary


The Senior Construction Estimator will estimate small to mid-scale projects commercial and industrial projects with an emphasis on VA hospitals, CA hospitals, and military healthcare facilities.


Will require up to 25% National travel


Responsibilities and Duties



  • Prepare cost estimates for projects including design/build, conceptual budgets, schematic, design development, and construction document estimates.

  • Analyze and compile data to determine the amount of labor, materials, and any other special equipment or machinery necessary for project-at-hand.

  • Works with clients and consultants on design and specification

  • Puts together all items required for both pre-qualification as well as bid documents.

  • Understand and monitor program of work to ensure estimates are completed prior to deadlines

  • Schedule and attend field walk-downs with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to understand and determine constructability requirements

  • Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation

  • Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency

  • Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stake holders

  • Work with construction personnel and stakeholders throughout the project life-cycle in tracking and understanding basis of cost estimate

  • Work with engineers, architects, contractors, subcontractors in the preparation and submission of change orders

  • Works closely with field management to keep updated with labor's production.

  • Develop and maintain solid subcontractor and vendor relationships

  • Follows up with field reports and accounting to be sure that estimates and actuals are tight.

  • Keeps and tracks accurate and easy electronic files of all estimates and updates in ERP

  • Track quoted jobs throughout the bidding process

  • Follow-up at the end of a project to close any loops in the estimating process to include invoicing and cost tracking

  • Identify potential projects, and participate in pre-qualifying opportunities

  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects.

  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner. Embody KR Wolfe QUEST values in all activities and behavior.


Qualifications and Skills



  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management or related math major or equivalent experience in construction industry.

  • 5-10 years' experience in a mid to senior level construction estimating position. .

  • Experience estimating OSHPD projects

  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced environment while producing detailed, accurate estimates on multiple and varied projects.

  • Must have strong knowledge of building science and construction processes.

  • Excellent time management, decision making, interpersonal, presentation and organization skills.

  • Extensive experience in understanding blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services.

  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality estimates within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.

  • Advanced computer skills including familiarity with project management software, CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software, timecard software, Microsoft Office, Internet browsers, Email, and Smartphones.

  • Ability to pass customer-required screenings including background criminal history, drug screen, vaccinations, and any other requirements to work in a hospital environment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
